Solutions Gallery - Screen Pleat and Cut System Case Study

Customer had a requirement to create a pleated and a flat screen from .002 diameter 200 count wire mesh. Challenges: Pleat the screen without stretching the mesh (which would distort the properties, big hole in filter bad), feed the mesh into the a tool on pitch so that the pleat could be supported where necessary and crimped flat where necessary, cut the mesh cleanly. Flat screen also had to be calendared to remove stress so that the part would be flat after cutting – the incoming woven material has stress that will make it curl.
